On the carefully cultivated obliviousness of my older child
Point the first:
Our older son has been carefully protected from some of America's crasser, more commercial elements.
Point the second:
He is also known to adore The City's many playgrounds and climbing structures.
These two facts came to a head last weekend.
Witnesseth:
On a drive home from a friend's house, we weren't surprised to hear Baxter say from the back seat, "Hey, that looks like a fun playground!"
We were surprised, however, when we turned around and spotted what he had seen: this McDonald's, complete with outdoor PlayPlace.
You gotta wonder what his kindergarten classmates will make of this boy and his utter failure to identify the golden arches with fries, shakes and Happy Meal toys.
